Tonya started professional boxing in 2003. The popularity of her became more prominent as she began appearing in films and TV shows and has made her a global star. The year 1994 was the time Tonya was hailed as a star because her principal competitor Nancy Kerrigan mysteriously was assaulted before the 'National Championship'. Tonya benefited from this popularity and fame so effectively that she changed the culture of women's skating. The life of Tonya and her achievements have become an issue in numerous research studies. Tonya was also the subject of a 2017 biopic titled 'I, Tonya.'
